What do you serve with the starters, the Turkey and why can't I just find one place that can make my life easier?
Well I hope we can help. Our approach has always been to take the hassle and the BS out of wine. This Christmas let us do just that and curate the wine list for your festive meals.
We have put together 4 different festive boxes of differing sizes and focus. Just click through below and have a browse... and as it's the season of goodwill we have discounted them just to help on the purse a little more.
We thought it only right that you'd most want to drink some glorious fizz.
We have a Christmas Fizz Box as well as a great offer from Mosquito Hill!
6 bottles for £130
Start your Christmas Day with some vintage fizz with some scrambled eggs on toast and then enjoy a mid-morning nibble of some chips and humous or some M&S delicious finger food with a glass of Pinot Gris whilst you prep the lunch and open up some well deserved pressies.
Start the big lunch with a delicious starter of grilled prawns, or a haloumi and fig salad or even a bit of ham hock with a glass of our epic and immensely popular Sawyer chardonnay. Burgundian in style and full of buttery goodness. Then carve the turkey and sit down for the main event with a glass of our Princess of Thieves. Its our Rhone style GSM which is so smooth and versatile, it will go with anything roast you serve.
After arguing over who’s doing the washing up and watching His Maj, settle down in the evening to the 17th sitting of Love Actually, break out the Cheeses and open up the Bernard’s Cabernet from our newest recruit, the award winning Oakdene Vineyards - wines that are as much fun as Steve and his glorious family.
12 bottles for £295
There’s not much better in my mind than Mum and Dad’s house on Xmas morning for smoked salmon & poached eggs on toast, pastries and a glass of fizz (or a mimosa) for which our Fabulous House of Arras Brut Elite is perfection. Mid morning means the annual grandkids V grandpops sausage roll competition, along with a few glasses of (Coopers) lager.
Then it’s time for the main event, sitting down with our gorgeous Sawyer Chardonnay and a starter of prawn cocktail because if it isn’t broken then don’t bother trying to fix it.
Turkey and all the trimmings house goes perfectly with a smooth shiraz, of which our best selling Sawyer is frankly THE perfect tipple to go with the meal. Loved by Someliers its a perfect pick for Christmas this year.
Later as you sit down to explain the rules of Cards Against Humanity to Gran, serve up the pork pies and ham sarnies along with the Grenache. A wine made from 65 year old vines but with a stunning lightness of fruit that will be a perfect crowd pleaser. The only question is whether 2 bottles will be enough?
Boxing day is simple – by the time you awake, have had a good long walk and put the rib of beef in the oven. Retire to the couch and watch Die Hard (again) and then serve with the best vintage Pinot Noir that we have found in Australia. With 14 years of age on it, this is just a glorious wine to go with a glorious bit of steak!
6 bottles for £210
This is our premium Christmas box featuring 6 of our very best bottles, all of which we have chosen because they represent the premium that we believe Australia has to offer - all at a special Christmas price of course!
Kick off with Christmas breakfast and THE award winning fizz, from the best sparkling maker on the planet. Then dive into a gorgeous buttery, Burgundian style chardonnay that just goes perfectly with so many foods from a Dover Sole to a Roast Chicken, but in this case with almost any starters (oysters anyone?) and will kick off your Christmas lunch in true style.
For the main event this year chose to pour Auld Family Wines William Patrick – a wine destined for seriously iconic status in our eyes, and a shiraz to go perfectly with the best Roast Turkey. Made with fruit that far more storied rivals would love to get their hands on and a finish that feels as smooth as Morgan Freeman’s voice sounds. For the evening we have our needle in a haystack find of a glorious, aged, burgundy like Pinot that is the Bartram house pour for seemingly every special occasion. It is phenomenal with a steak or a roast beef joint, or even just with some Epoises cheese in front of the fire.
And our best Whip Hand Cabernet from Redhead wines finishes the box off. With the smooth tannins and deep fruits of a great Californian Cab Sav, but with soofter alcohol, and a far, far more tolerable price point. A special drop to finish what we hope will be a very special few days!
6 bottles for £125
Not a carnivore? Just had too much Turkey and trimmings on the approach to Xmas? Or just want to bring a bit of Scotts of Mayfair to your house over Christmas!
Sounds fine to us and frankly Christmas Day in Australia is all about seafood - Blue swimmer crabs, prawns, barramundi, oysters…. So these wines all go perfectly with seafood! Last year I got to spend my first Christmas on the beach and this year fresh seafood will feature heavily on the menu as it's really such a brilliant option! People always really struggle with wines for fish, so we have tried to put a bit more zing into your fish-masday!
We kick off with some award winning fizz, extra dry from Tasmania kicks off any day brilliantly, or finishes it pretty well if you’re going for New Years fizz! The extra dryness of this fizz will work wonders with your smoked salmon to start the day!
Oysters, Grilled Prawns or slip soles in caper butter - all could not be more perfect with our Penna Lane Riesling, not just the best Riesling at the recent Clare Valley awards, but the best wine in AUSTRALIA.
We've also included the gorgeous 95 point winning Auld Family Wilberforce Riesling from 2021. We don't have much of this left, but the extra age means it will also take spice just perfectly - so if you have asian flavours on your fish dishes then again reach for the AFW Wilberforce.
Our gorgeous, Puligny style Sawyer Chardonnay sings out for a perfect fillet of white fish or, even better, maybe you got persuaded by Rick Stein on More 4 to grill a Lobster which will go beautifully with this or with some crab!
Maybe you fancy something a bit exotic for Boxing Day and someone bought you the J Sheekey Cookbook so have dived into one of my favourite dishes - monkfish curry! A thing of real beauty, but totally calling for a bottle of a lighter, slightly fruitier red that will let the fish do the talking, but go down a treat… and for that our new Sawyer Sangiovese is the go to!
