EXCLUSIVE ACCESS: OAKDENE is here!!

When we met Steven Paul and his daughter Izzy at Wine Australia in January, we loved their infectious enthusiasm for wine. Oakdene is a small family owned, and run winery. We said that if their wine matched the quality of their energy, we would love to consider adding them to our stable at Australian Vintners.

We were not disappointed.

Located on the Bellarine Peninsula, just South West of Melbourne the regions cool maritime climate is perfect for producing low yielding, high quality fruit, which in turn creates the kind of beautiful deep fruit Shiraz and Cabernets we crave.

Their 2019 William Shiraz (£29 per bottle, £174 per case of 6) is medium bodied, making it slightly lighter than some of the heavier Shiraz that comes out of the Barossa with their warm hot summers. Yet the taste of plums and black fruits, with a hint of spice, stopped us in our tracks as we poured another glass. In barrels for 16months it's now been in the bottle for about 5 years so beautifully ready to drink.

And then their 2019 Bernard's Cabernets. (£24 per bottle, £144 case of 6) This is their take on a classic right bank Bordeaux. Of course we all know our left and our right banks of Bordeaux right? Well, what it means is it's dominated by soft Merlot (66%) rather than Cabernet Sauvignon (only 8%) and expertly balanced with 26% Cabernet Franc to smooth the blend to something that is nothing like our other wines. Again, 5 years in bottle, you'll be glad you grabbed some in time for the Autumn days.

The wines are available to deliver now, so as an exclusive offer before they go on the website we'll do 10% off £167 a case of 6 Shiraz, or £129 per 6 Cabernets - or if you are undecided we'll do 3 of each for £148.

Just reply to us and we'll get them sent!
