Good Golly, COMMON MOLLY!

My kids are huge music fans, and have recently discovered Britney Spears "Hit me Bacon one more time.." Oh Bacon Bacon, how was I supposed to know...

So it seems only fitting that I welcome Common Molly to Australian Vintners by likening them to the Little Richard classic, Good Golly Miss Molly. The song is a belter just like the wine.

The producers of Common Molly named the wine after the fish of the same name. A resilient, resourceful and striking fish. They make much more modern style wines, much lighter and fresher, that are fruit driven, rather than the flavours from the barrels taking over. The fruit they use is from sourced from the best growers in McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley. They wanted their bottles to be striking too, in shaped blown glass that you won't find elsewhere.

Common Molly have two distinct varietals. Their McLaren Vale Grenache (£25 a bottle, £150 a case of 6) is that beautiful combination of plum and cherry, with just a hint of spice. It's a great complement to those autumnal stews, or I like to have it with a Shepherds pie.

Their Barossa Valley Sangiovese (£25 a bottle, £150 a case of 6) takes it one step further with dark cherry, bitter chocolate and even a hint of the mediterranean, made to emulate Italian style Chianti.
