Oakdene's take on the classic right bank Bordeaux claret. Dominated by soft Merlot (66%) rather than Cab Sav (only 8%) and expertly balanced with 26% Cabernet Franc to smooth the blend. Another of their wines with 5 years in bottle after 16 months in barrel. Its lighter on the alcohol than most claret styles which we really love too! it's all about the fruit as a wine, black cherry, plum with a little spice and a hint of floral notes. Sweet-berried fruits makes this feel like a lighter but definitely autumnal wine. we love this with a chicken or mushroom dish! 12.4% ABV

Oakdene Wines

We met Father and daughter team Steve and Izzy at the Australia Trade tasting in Jan 2024. They were so energetic, enthusiastic and passionate about what they were doing. Could the wines live up to the glorious energy of the family that made them? You bet they could! after spending a few hours in the pub with them afterwards we waddled home with a six pack to taste and the rest is history.
