Mosquito Hill Wines is a small, artisanal winery located in the picturesque Mt Jagged region of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The Fleurieu peninsula is often better known for its beaches, and I couldn't help but put a picture of my favourite one below, Carrickalinga. But the stunning beaches are matched by the fabulous wines and we were thrilled to meet Glyn & Dan who are producing some of the most fabulous hidden gems we've come across. Vintage Blanc de Blancs, aged Gevery like Pinots noirs and dreamy Puiligny-like Chardonnays... sometimes you just get really, really lucky given that's what we wanted but really didn't expect to find.
Established by the Jamieson family in 1994, Mosquito Hill Wines takes inspiration from the French regions of Burgundy and Champagne and specialises in the area’s cool climate varietals.
A surgeon by profession, founder and chief winemaker Glyn Jamieson cemented his love for this style of winemaking in the early 1990s when he took study leave in France with his late wife, Elizabeth.
Shortly after returning to Australia, the couple purchased a 200-acre property and Mosquito Hill Wines was born. In his 80s now Glyn continues to make glorious wines.
Daniel Franklin joined Mosquito Hill and teamed up with Glyn in 2022, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for this style of wines and together they continue to make and sell wines inspired by their love of these French regions.
